Royal Couple Unveil Sky Academy Careers Lab

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have surprised some broadcast stars of the future during a visit to the Sky Studios.

A group of primary school children had the chance to meet the royal couple and show off new skills they had learned at the Sky Academy.

The pupils, aged 8 and 9, from Alexandra School in Hounslow were not expecting the royal visitors.

Eesha Bains told Sky News: "It was quite amazing and it was quite shocking because it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

The tour also saw the couple officially open the Sky Academy Careers Lab - which will offer up to one million young people the chance to experience life working at Sky.

It aims to inspire young people to think about a possible job in broadcasting, media or business.

Sixth-formers from Lampton Schoool in Hounslow met the royal couple and talked about their hopes for the future.

Mathunia Nithsan told Sky News: "Prince Charles was quite casual and warm-hearted, he wished me luck for my future and for my A-levels."

"It was a privilege to meet him, not many people get to meet him."

And after achieving a royal first with a digital unveiling that saw the lab declared open with the simple press of a button, Prince Charles performed a more traditional duty - by turning on the lights on Sky's Christmas tree.

"At least it's worked," he said.
