The Crown stunned us all, gaining critical acclaim and becoming a big hit for Netflix, yet one verdict that has eluded us all is that of its subjects.

Well, luckily, one member of the Royal Family has given her opinion on the series, and it sounds like it's a thumbs-up for the streaming giant.

Princess Eugenie, who is one of the Queen's granddaughters, revealed that she is a fan of the show and was "proud" to watch it.

"I did watch a couple of episodes of The Crown," she told an audience at the China Exchange in London. "It is filmed beautifully.

"The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can't speak for everyone but that's how I felt when I watched it."

Still no word yet on what the Queen thought. Perhaps she hasn't got round to it yet... we imagine one is still getting through House of Cards.

While The Crown has been garnering praise all round, there was not so much love at last week's BAFTA TV Awards, with the show walking home empty-handed.

Leads Matt Smith and Claire Foy are set to reprise their roles as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in season two later this year.

However, it will be their last as they are set to be replaced by new actors in upcoming seasons as their characters age.

Foy, however, is relieved, explaining: "That's not a shock – we always knew when we signed up to it, and not to be funny but it's also a real plus.

"As an actor there's nothing worse than the sound of 'seven years'. I'm sure to some people it sounds amazing but to us it's like, seven years of playing the same person? And this is a tough job, you know?"

The Crown airs on Netflix.
