Run, jog, walk, and save lives with Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance

Dust off your running shoes and prepare for takeoff with the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance 5k Twilight Shift.

The fundraising event on Saturday, July 6 is encouraging those who wish to take part, to sign up before online registration closes at midnight on Thursday, July 4. For the third year running, the event will take place at Henstridge Airfield on the county border; the operational base for the charity’s life-saving critical care team.

Participants can run, jog, or walk the 5K and enter as an individual, as a family, or a group.

There are only 500 places available and you can take part as a serious runner, or use it to have fun and exercise or use it for team building if you are a business or group.

You can wear fancy dress, or if you are a more experienced 5K runner, carry extra weight, like the air ambulance team do when they are attending an incident.

Members of the public are also welcome to attend the event.

Henstridge Airfield Cafe will be open where food and drink will be available to purchase, and the following stalls will also be attending on the day:

• DocBike

• Devon Freewheelers Blood Bikes

• Restart a Heart: CPR Training

• Dorset Police

Alana Hardy, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance events officer said: “With only two weeks to go, we’re really excited for this year’s 5K Twilight Shift. This is our third year holding our charity run and walk, and we’re expecting this year’s event to be better than ever before.

“It’s such a special day, as it gives participants a chance to come together to raise funds for a cause that they’re passionate about and to have the amazing opportunity to meet members of our crew who save lives every day, with thanks to their support.

“Our 5K Twilight Shift is a fun event that all the family can enjoy, so I would encourage everyone, no matter their age or ability, to register and take part. We can’t wait to see you on the day.”
