Ruth Langsford explains x-rated Mother’s Day tweet

Ruth Langsford has explained how she accidentally tweeted an x-rated picture on Mother’s Day.

The Loose Women host, 57, hit the headlines when she inadvertently posted a picture of a man’s genitalia along with a picture of herself with her mother and sister.

Langsford said she took a screenshot of the image on her phone and failed to realise that her camera roll – which featured the rude image sent from a girlfriend – was visible at the bottom.

Explaining the mishap on Loose Women she said: “My niece sent me some pictures on Whatsapp and I was trying to find a picture of my mum where she was looking at the camera. I found one and I zoomed in and took a screenshot.

“What I didn’t know is that when you get sent those racy, saucy and amusing pictures that go around on Whatsapp, I didn’t realise they get saved to your camera roll. So when I took the screenshot, you could see the image at the bottom of the screen.”

Gloria Hunniford quipped: “One question that popped up was, ‘Was that Eamonn [Holme]’s little Johnny?’.”

Shutting down rumours that Holmes was in the picture, Langsford continued: “Those photos at the bottom of the picture were in my camera roll. I can’t believe it was on Mother’s Day.

“I blame the girlfriend who sends me those photos. You know who you are.”

Langford deleted the tweet and later posted out a new picture.

She captioned the shot: “My lovely Mum & sister. Thinking of those who no longer have their Mum.....you'll always have your memories.”

She said she was left feeling “sick” on noticing her error.

“Social media is quite scary isn't it,” she said. “When they told me, my stomach, I felt sick… there might be more than one.”

Loose Women is on ITV weekdays at 12:30pm.
