Speaking about the tongue-in-cheek ad to GMB hosts Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins, Rhodri admitted that it had caused a rift in the family, and he is now hoping for things to be “amicable” between him and his brother.

“It was a bit of fun really, I’ve moved on… I’ve forgiven him… a couple of years ago,” he said.

Asked if he thought it helped to poke fun at his brother’s affair in the ad, he replied: “Yeah, of course, negativity is not healthy, [it’s best] to move on in a comedic way.

He added: “I think he over-stepped the mark, I don’t think I did. What I did was funny, what he did was a car crash.”

He added: “I think he over-stepped the mark, I don’t think I did. What I did was funny, what he did was a car crash.”

On learning about his brother’s long-running affair with his wife Natasha, Rhodri said: “[It was] on the morning of the news story, I think it’s already been stated before, but Natasha’s mother came round with a newspaper and a letter. She [Natasha] had took the kids to Spain. I knew nothing…

“It was all a bit of a shock, it took a bit of time. It’s a long time ago, we’ve all moved on, everyone seems to be happy.”

Asked if he’d told his brother he’d forgiven him, he said: “I have got three children to worry about. I can’t worry about someone that does something like that and says all the right things but doesn’t act upon it. I’ve got to move on and that’s what happened.”

He added that he hasn’t spoken to the former Manchester United player, but hopes things would be “amicable” if they bumped into each other in the street.

“I haven’t spoken to him, I’m sure if I bumped into the street it would be amicable, I don’t know that. I’m fine with it. I don’t know if he’s upset with the advert… I’ve got my own to life to live,” he said. “I have three kids that take up a lot of my time, they are more important than someone who doesn’t care.”
