Sabrina Carpenter makes UK chart history

Sabrina Carpenter has broken a UK chart record to make music history with a first-time achievement.

The 25-year-old is riding atop the British singles charts with her song Please Please Please at number one and infectious pop tune Espresso at number two.

The American star has been maintaining her number one and number two posts at the top of the charts for three weeks - landing her a place in the history books.

The Official Charts Company shared the news on Friday with a statement, shared via Instagram, reading, "She's a Record Breaker (again!).

"Congratulations to the unstoppable Sabrina Carpenter, who becomes the first female artist in Official Chart history to spend three consecutive weeks at Numbers 1 and 2 with #PleasePleasePlease and #Espresso."

The previous week, the Official Charts Company revealed Sabrina had become, "The youngest female artist to ever hold the Number 1 and Number 2 spots on the Official Singles Chart for two consecutive weeks."

More chart success is expected for the pop singer as both singles are taken from her forthcoming sixth studio album, titled Short n' Sweet, which is due for release in August.

Her record-breaking antics leave her in good company as the only other two female musicians to enjoy a number one and number two spot in the UK simultaneously are Madonna in 1985 and Ariana Grande in 2019, but Sabrina has pulled ahead by holding position for longer.
