Sabrina Elba Reveals What Husband Idris Elba Really Smells Like: 'It Embodies Him' (Exclusive)

"Anyone that knows him knows that's his smell," Sabrina tells PEOPLE of her actor husband

Idris Elba has an instantly recognizable smell, according to his wife, Sabrina Elba.

While chatting with PEOPLE exclusively about being named an ambassador for Calvin Klein's iconic Eternity fragrance franchise alongside her husband, Sabrina, 35, opens up about what the actor smells like.

"Idris has a musk that he uses as a body oil, and anyone that knows him knows that's his smell," the model says of PEOPLE's former Sexiest Man Alive, 51. "I love it. It embodies him to me."

Idris and Sabrina first met at a party in Vancouver while the actor was filming The Mountain Between Us. The couple then tied the knot during a three-day wedding extravaganza in April 2019.

According to Sabrina, her husband also has a unique sense of style — no matter where he goes or what he does.

"Idris for sure is effortless, timeless and sexy to me. He doesn't even have to lift a finger," she says. "He just walks out the door, this confident sexy guy. He can be in a pair of flip-flops and sweats and I'm just like, 'Wow, you're going to make best-dressed lists.' And he always does," Sabrina adds. "He's effortless."

Idris, for his part, says of his wife, "I think Sabrina is fresh because she loves the newest and coolest. And she's elegant no matter what she puts on, whether it's sweatpants or a ball gown, she looks elegant."

When it comes to the couple's red carpet fashion, Sabrina says, "If we could match and wear matching colors, I'd actually love it."

"Idris not so much. I love the idea of couple dressing and when couples do it, I just think it's the cutest thing ever," she further explains. "Idris doesn't love it."

Idris defends himself, however, stating, "When it's all matching, matching and you look like twins, I'm like, 'Oh man.' "

Through their Calvin Klein partnership, the couple stars in a campaign for the new male and female Aromatic Essence scents from the Eternity portfolio.

Shot by renowned photographer Mert Alas, the campaign sees the Elbas embracing one another and channeling their love story. The global advertising campaign spans digital, social, print and TV.

"There was a lot of expectation leading up to it," Idris tells PEOPLE of working with Calvin Klein. "I think Sabrina and I were both like, 'Wait, wow.' And I was like, 'Oh my God, I really have to look really handsome in this thing, and you're just going to ace it, because you're just beautiful.' "

"We did it in a way that just felt so natural, so easy and that showcases Black love in a way I think isn't seen enough — I love the idea of that," Sabrina adds.
