‘A Sacrifice’ Trailer: Sadie Sink Joins a Cult in Twisted Thriller Produced by Ridley Scott

What sacrifices would you make for your job, your family, your lover…or even your sanity?

The trailer for writer/director Jordan Scott’s “A Sacrifice” propels audiences into a twisted game of untangling the motivations for a father-daughter duo caught on the periphery of a cult. Inspired by Nicholas Hogg’s 2015 novel “Tokyo Nobody,” the feature follows American social-psychologist Ben Monroe (Eric Bana) who is investigating a local Berlin cult connected to disturbing events.

While he immerses himself in his work, his rebellious teenage daughter, Mazzy (Sadie Sink), becomes embroiled with a mysterious local boy (Jonas Dassler) who introduces her to the city’s underground party scene. As their two worlds head toward a dangerous intersection, Ben must race against the clock to save his family.

Sylvia Hoeks, Sophie Rois, Stephan Kampwirth, and Lara Feith co-star.

The ever-prolific auteur Ridley Scott produces the film, along with Michael Pruss, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo, and Georgina Pope.

Bana executive produces in addition to Jonathan Saubach, Justin Alvarado-Brown, Kenji Isomura, Céline Dornier, and Frédéric Fiore. Rebecca Feuer, Marius Ehlayil, Carlotta Löffelholz, Rusta Mizani, and Simon B. Stein co-produce.

“A Sacrifice” star Sink will next appear in “Stranger Things” Season 5, which will close out the beloved Netflix franchise. It’s gonna be hard to say goodbye, she told the “Today” show.

“These kids, this entire cast and crew, it’s family,” Sink said. “People say that all the time, but I genuinely mean it. And to think that we have to say goodbye to that security and knowing that we’re going to be seeing each other for another season?”

She added, “It’s scary and sad, but I think it’s exciting to kind of move on to the next chapter, I guess.”

Sink’s “Stranger Things” co-star Millie Bobby Brown said in 2023 that she is grateful the series is almost done.

“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” Brown told Glamour. “‘Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”

“A Sacrifice” premieres June 28 from Vertical Entertainment. Check out the trailer below.
