Sainsbury's, Aldi, TK Maxx and Homesense customers are being advised to check their cupboards, fridges and freezers after certain food items were withdrawn from sale.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issues recalls for a variety of reasons, including hidden allergens on packaging or the discovery of insects in products. The watchdog provides guidance on what action to take if you have bought a recalled product and details about the recall, including why the product was removed from sale.

Customers can return the item to their nearest store for a full refund. A receipt is not necessary, reports Lancs Live.

Meat and Meat products recall update.

The list of meat and meat products supplied by a cutting plant in Swanley, Kent that need to be removed from the market has been narrowed down.

The Food Standards Agency has alerted Environmental Health, Trading Standards Services and Official Veterinarians to take action to remove meat and meat products manufactured by Block and Cleaver from the market. The products affected have not been produced in accordance with GB food law requirements, and therefore may be unsafe.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning about products supplied by Block and Cleaver, which have been distributed to various food establishments in London and the South East. The affected items may carry incorrect use by dates, lack proper traceability, potentially breach food safety management protocols, and could be unsafe for consumption.

A spokesperson for the agency stated: "We have asked food businesses such as restaurants, cafes and hotels to withdraw from sale meat or meat products supplied by Block and Cleaver with use by dates of 21 and 22 June 2024, because they may be unsafe to eat. Food businesses have also been asked to dispose of the products safely."

They further instructed: "We have also asked food businesses who have sold meat or meat products directly to consumers at retail, to undertake product recalls and inform their Local Authority, who will then inform the Food Standards Agency (FSA)."

The specific details of the products under scrutiny are as follows:.

Beef meat and meat products with use by dates up to and including 21 June 2024, except for those listed in Appendix 1; pork meat and meat products with use by dates up to and including 22 June 2024, again with exceptions noted in Appendix 1; and chicken meat and meat products with use by dates up to and including 22 June 2024, with certain products exempted as per Appendix 1.
