The world’s largest sake festival (outside of Japan) is coming to the capital in September.

The one-day festival, that is taking place at the Barbican Centre, will showcase over 400 premium sakes.

The event will take place on September 28 and will run from 6pm - 9pm.

Sakes from 192 Japanese breweries will be delivered to the Barbican in an impressive unbroken chill chain, to ensure they are of the highest quality for the festival.

Attendees can expect self-serve tastings and sake-themed small plates from top London restaurants including Gymkhana, SushiSamba and Sake no Hana.

The demand for sake in the UK is stronger than ever, with sales rising by 240 per cent over the last decade.

Chris Pearce, founder of The Joy of Sake said “Over the past five years London has achieved global acclaim for the quality and creativity of its cuisine."

“Not coincidentally, it also has the most dynamic sake scene in Europe. We feel that now is the time and London is the place. We look forward to bringing the world’s best sake celebration to the UK.”
