A Salford school where pupils are 'happy and flourish' has received top marks in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors visited Broadoak Primary School, on Fairmount Road in Swinton, in April and gave it a glowing review, after spending two days observing the children and staff.

The school was judged to be 'outstanding' in every aspect, with particular praise for the positive and caring atmosphere among pupils.

Pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) receive 'swift and effective support' at the school, with 'bespoke adaptations' during lessons.

There are more than 480 pupils at Broadoak Primary School between the ages of three and 11.

It is a single-academy trust, which means that other people in the trust also have responsibility for running the school.

The trust is overseen by a board of trustees, chaired by Douglas Watt.

Headteacher Mrs Karen Wild said: "We are delighted that the inspectors recognised that our children flourish during their time with us and the report paints a vibrant picture of what it is like to attend Broadoak Primary School.

"We are immensely proud of this achievement and remain committed to sustaining excellence, ensuring that our children continue to receive an outstanding educational experience and one that prepares them for future success.

"I would like to thank our whole Broadoak family – our dedicated staff and governors, our wonderful children and our parents for their continued support."

Melissa Caslake, executive director of children’s services at Salford council, said: “We’d like to congratulate Broadoak School for this huge achievement.

"It is a great example of a school which cares about the welfare and education of each and every child and this is reflected in how the children and teachers feel about their experience there.”
