A BRADFORD salon which recently relocated to "beautiful" new premises is in the running for a top award.

The Telegraph & Argus recently launched its Best Hairdresser or Barber 2024 competition.

Readers were invited to share which hairdresser or barber they thought should take the crown - and an incredible 22,444 nominations came in through our online voting platform.

The nominations were whittled down to 10 and we are now aiming to publish a profile on each of the finalists in the coming days.

Among them is North Salon, which is based on Wakefield Road and owned by Kelly Lloyd.

Kelly, also a nail technician at the business, said: "I have always aspired to open my own salon.

"My business has been running for 15 years but the current salon has been open for six weeks - after relocating from a shared space in Bradford city centre.

"Our clients have all commented on how beautiful the new salon looks - they absolutely love the decor.

"We are all absolutely over the moon to be nominated for this T&A award.

"It's fantastic to know all our clients have supported us and voted."

Kelly works alongside Rebecca Metcalf, senior hair stylist, and Jodie Brooksbank, a nail technician.

"Working at North Salon is fantastic," Kelly said.

"We have all been in the hair and beauty industry for a long time and known each other for more than 20 years.

"We have a shared passion for providing the best services in a relaxed and friendly environment.

"We have a fantastic relationship with our clients - the majority of whom are long-standing, loyal customers."

Kelly said Rebecca has 26 years' hairdressing experience and has some clients she has known since starting out as an apprentice, and she also praised Jodie for her work.

Nigel Burton, editor of the T&A, said: "Bradford has some fantastic hairdressers and barbers.

"The reader response to our search for the district’s favourites was amazing.

"It just goes to show how much people across the district appreciate their work.

"We can't wait to crown Bradford's best in our competition."

Don't miss out on your chance to shout up for your favourite hairdresser or barber - it couldn't be simpler to do.

All you need to do is fill out the voting form, which can be found in the T&A newspaper until July 6.

The overall winner will be announced on July 15.
