Sam Cam Named World's Most Stylish Woman

Samantha Cameron has beaten popstar Taylor Swift to be named the most stylish woman on the planet by Vanity Fair magazine.

The Prime Minister's wife, whose look was summarised by the magazine as "Conservative charm", also beat the ballet dancer Misty Copeland, who made third place.

While the magazine named Phillip Lim, Alexander McQueen, Erdem and Roksanda Ilincic as designers she favours, she likes to mix it up with high street brands such as Cos, Zara and Toast.

Also high on the list - at number four - is the Countess of Wessex, while the Duchess of Cambridge, usually a firm favourite for fashion picks, does not appear in the top 10.

Britain also claims the number one slot for the best-dressed male, with the title going to the actor Bill Nighy, who names his style icons as Frank Sinatra, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Pharrell Williams.

Second on the men's list is the US financier Stavros Niarchos III, followed in third by the artist Ike Ude.

Prince Harry makes it on to the list at 8. His brother does not.

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter top the best-dressed couples list.
