A mere 12 months after being killed off in Vera, but still seven years before he landed his first Brit Award and number 1 album, Sam Fender starred in another TV show filmed in Tyneside, with its cast also including an actor who would end up being in one of NEtflix's biggest shows.

Before being a globally famous star in the world of music, Sam had the bizarre but rather iconic claim to fame of being the first ever murder victim in hit ITV drama Vera, with the lifeless body being found in a bath tub, before being examined by Brenda Blethyn, in her debut as DCI Stanhope.

However, Sam's fleeting appearance in Vera wasn't his only stint in front of camera as a teenager, as he went onto be in Wolfblood, the CBBC series that launched in September 2012 and ran until 2017. Unlike in Vera, when he had little to do, Sam had a few lines in Wolfblood, as Dean, a lad who caused a bit of a stir when he took an interest in lead character Maddy, much to the annoyance of her friend Kay.

After being impressed by Maddy's dancing in a school talent show, Dean then gave her his number, before things came to a head with a row at Kay's birthday party.

The YouTube clip of Sam's performance in Wolfblood, which also starred Sex Education actor Kedar Williams-Stirling, still attracts plenty of comments today, with one viewer reacting: "the amount of times I've watched this show and i’m only NOW finding out that sam fender was in it" and a second writing: "I was obsessed with this as a kid and now I'm obsessed with Sam Fender. This is perfection"

Speaking about his short-lived TV career in an interview with Chris Moyles for Radio X, Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under star Sam said he did 'enjoy' acting, but wasn't a huge fan of following 'somebody else's script,' telling the presenter: "I'm a storyteller at heart."
