Sam Smith spotted kissing '13 Reasons Why' star Brandon Flynn
Sam Smith has all but confirmed a new romance with 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn after the pair were papped kissing following a lunch date in New York City.
The 25-year-old singer has sparked fresh dating rumours after opening up about his heartbreak earlier this year, with Sam making a triumphant return to the music scene last month with his new single ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’.
This is the first time that Sam and Brandon have been spotted together, with Brandon shooting to fame after playing Justin Foley in Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why, which is currently filming its second series.
The 23-year-old actor only recently came out as gay, revealing that he considers himself a part of the LGBT+ community after pledging his support for the Australian Vote Yes campaign for same sex marriage to be legalised in the country.
Writing on Instagram, Brandon shared: “Just saw the ‘vote no’ message in the sky, looming over Sydney. Thank you for raising money and hiring on a plane to write your lack of support amongst the clouds. I hope your hate and lack of understanding fades, just like those words will.
“Too many of my friends have been kicked out of their homes, kept in the closet, beat up, killed, ridiculed by church and state, institutionalized… and you are scared that if we vote YES, you won’t be able to show your hate for us.
“F*ck that. We’ve been scared sh*tless our whole lives thanks to all the stigmas that surround us, stigmas that were set in place by the same kind of people who flew that plane over Sydney.
“We’ve fought, we’ve come out bravely even in our fear, and you wrote a message in the sky because you’re scared. Equality takes courage, it worries me that too many people in this world lack the balls to stand up for what is right. #f*ckhate.”
The star was inundated with support from his followers, who praised his “bravery”.
Brandon had previously been linked to his 13 Reasons Why co-star Miles Heizer, who plays Alex Standall, however, Heizer’s rep denied the speculation, saying: “This is a false report. Miles and Brandon are friends from the show but are not dating.”
Meanwhile, Sam recently told Sir Elton John for an interview in Attitude magazine that he was in a “really bad place” after being dumped, sharing: “When I got dumped this time round I just couldn’t write for about two months.
“My team had to force me to get into the studio, because I almost felt as if I didn’t want to do it any more.
“So, there were moments on there where it got a bit intense and I started to lose myself.”
