Samsung and Amazon join forces to offer free Kindle books to Galaxy owners

Samsung and Amazon have just announced a partnership that will bring a dedicated Kindle app to Galaxy devices, with free books.

Samsung Book Deals is the name of the offering that will mean everyone will have access to 12 free ebooks a year. By everyone that means anyone using a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet with Android 4.0 or above.

Users are offered a free title from a selection of four different titles each month. It seems like the app itself won't take advantage of any Samsung specific hardware, like Smart Screen to detect when a user is reading.

"We’re thrilled that Samsung has chosen Kindle as their eBook provider," said Jorrit Van der Meulen, vice president, EU Kindle. "With Kindle for Samsung, people around the world will have instant access to the best digital bookstore and reading experience, including more than half a million titles that are only available from the Kindle Store, and innovative features like Whispersync, Time to Read and much more."

Kindle for Samsung is available from today in over 90 countries and can be downloaded from Samsung Apps.
