Great British Bake Off's Sandi Toksvig has revealed a clause in her contract which stipulates that no-one else on her show gets paid more than she does.

The presenter insisted that she would never ask what her colleagues were being paid, but to ensure pay equality, she makes sure she isn't being paid less than a co-worker for doing the same job.

"On my show, nobody's being paid more than me," Sandi told The Sun. "I don't ask what they're being paid - I just make sure they're not getting more than me.

"Fortunately, I'm not in charge of negotiations. I have a wonderful agent, so I leave it to her."

It had been reported that judge Paul Hollywood was offered £1.2 million to stay on the series when Love Productions sold the format to Channel 4 for £75 million.

Former judge Mary Berry and presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc didn't follow the show over, with Pure Leith stepping in for Mary, and Sandi and Noel Fielding taking over from Mel & Sue.

Sandi also addressed the ongoing reports of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and beyond, and the omnipresent issue of pay disparity between men and women – which she aimed to dismantle when founding the Women's Equality Party.

"It's just great people are talking about it," she continued. "All I hope is it's not just a news story for a brief moment and then it disappears and we go back to old ways.

"I don't think we will, but there's still work to do."

Sandi will be returning to The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 later this year.
