Father Christmas lives in the North Pole and is therefore used to the snow.

But he has obviously never had to face snow like Britain faced over the weekend, with the light dusting proving all too much for St Nick.

Unbelievably, Santa’s Grotto in Gracechurch Shopping Centre in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, was closed yesterday because Father Christmas was snowed in.

Despite having a sled and flying reindeers at his disposal, Santa couldn’t make it and children were left disappointed by the no-show.

And to make matters worse, the elves were also nowhere to be seen.

A notice posted up read: “Unfortunately Santa and his elves are unable to be on-site as they have been caught up in the storm.”

Snow continues to fall and temperatures are once again set to plummet overnight.
