Alex Goode insists Saracens can beat European Champions Cup favourites Leinster in the quarter‑finals in Dublin, even though the holders had to rely on old rivals Wasps to scrape through.

Sarries defeated 62-14 Northampton on Saturday but the players endured a tense afternoon on Sunday, following results as a group on social media, waiting to discover if they would finish as one of the three best runners-up.

They secured the last of those places thanks to Wasps beating Ulster 26-7, meaning Sarries face the top-ranked team in the competition on the weekend of March 31 and April 1.

Full-back Goode, who scored one of Sarries’ seven tries in their bonus‑point win, said: “There is a real feeling of excitement having made the quarter-finals and getting the chance to take on Leinster in Dublin. We cannot wait to face this massive challenge and we don’t fear anyone. Our record speaks for itself in the tournament and everyone is over the moon to put ourselves in with a chance of another win.”
