Sarah Jessica Parker: 'Sex and the City 2 fell short'

From Digital Spy

Sex and the City taught us a lot of things, but mainly it taught us that it's never too early for a cosmo and that a second movie spin-off isn't always a great idea.

And now Carrie Bradshaw herself, Sarah Jessica Parker, has admitted that Sex and the City 2 didn't exactly live up to the show's high standards – despite making a load of money.

Chatting to Entertainment Weekly at Vulture Festival yesterday (May 21), Sarah revealed that she was more than happy to address the sequel's shortcomings.

"I can see where we fell short on that movie, and I'm perfectly happy to say that publicly," she admitted. "I will say, I also understand how much friggin' money it made." Touché, SJP.

The critically-panned 2010 movie saw Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte hotfoot it to Abu Dhabi in their Manolo Blahniks in a move that most fans would rather forget.

Luckily for us, though, it looks like a third film instalment is in the works to right the wrongs of its predecessor – but if it is, we might be in for a long wait.

When pressed about the chances of Sex and the City 3 earlier this year, Sarah revealed that a movie was "in a warming drawer".

"It's never been a 'no'...it's always been an 'if' and 'when'," she said. "And that remains the question being asked by two very thoughtful people who are taking into very serious consideration those people who devoted a lot of time.

"We're not cavalier about the way we arrive at that decision."
