Satellite Imagery Shows Smoke Covering Alaska as Wildfires Burn

Satellite video shows smoke filling the sky over Alaska on Wednesday, June 29, as wildfires burned in the state.

Video released by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere shows Alaska covered by a layer of smoke.

The National Weather Service issued an air-quality advisory for Wednesday until Friday afternoon due to wildfires. It said smoke from fires in central Alaska was starting to make its way over the Alaska Range and into south-central Alaska. Credit: CIRA/NOAA via Storyful
