Will Saturday Night Takeaway come back? Ant and Dec host finale after 'wavering' on ITV future

Saturday Night Takeaway might be coming to an end, for now anyway, this weekend, but viewers are already pushing for it to come back.

It was back in 2002 that Ant and Dec launched their hit show and one of the first acts to appear on Takeaway, Girls Aloud are making a return to be the Star Guest Announcers for a series finale that will also bring appearances from the likes of S Club, Scarlett Moffatt, Ashley Roberts and Tony Hadley. Another highlight of the Saturday Night Takeaway finale will be the Get Out of Me Ear - The Revenge, which see Cheryl, Olly Murs, Holly Willoughby and other celebs get their own back on the ITV presenters.

Ant and Dec announced last year that they were planning to 'rest' Takeaway, two decades after its debut, but were going to pull out all the stops to make sure the new series would be one to remember. In the days leading up to the finale, the Geordie duo admitted that they had to keep their emotions in check, with Ant predicting that their might be tears on the night.

And many fans are also upset that Takeaway is coming to an end, having lapped up every single series since the start and loved popular segments like Ring My Bell, Ant vs Dec and Undercover.

Will Saturday Night Takeaway come back?

At the minute, the future of the show is very uncertain. Ant and Dec haven't given any indication either way on Takeaway's future. However, during an appearance on This Morning on Friday, the hosts did admit that they had 'wavered' on their choice to put it on pause.

Dec explained: "When we first came to the decision to rest it...and we did it because 20 series feels like a good time to do it. We told our management first, we said 'we want to rest it but we reserve the right between now and the end to change our minds' and we have, but I think we know in our heart of hearts that t's the right thing to do, bot for the show and for us personally."
