Savannah Chrisley Unveils Tattoo in Mom Julie's Handwriting but Says Dad Todd Is 'Not a Fan'

Savannah Chrisley got a special tattoo — but has one big critic.

The reality TV star opened up in the July 2 episode of her Unlocked podcast about her new ink that is dedicated to her mother Julie Chrisley.

"For people that are watching the podcast right now, you probably notice since I'm wearing a short-sleeve shirt," Savannah said early in the episode. "First off, I haven't worn a short-sleeve shirt because I have been deathly afraid of showing my new tattoo just, like, because I knew it would hit the media and then my dad would find out."

She continued to explain that her dad, Todd Chrisley — who is currently in prison with his wife for bank fraud and tax evasion — has strong opinions about tattoos.

"So finally, I went and told him about my tattoo, right here. It's in mom's handwriting," explained Savannah, stating that the tattoo, which is above her elbow on the inside of her arm, comes from a letter that Julie wrote to her.

The ink reads, "Love you, mama" in Julie's handwriting.

She debated with herself on when to get the tattoo done, ranging from five months after her parents "left" — they reported to prison in January 2023 — to "the end of last summer," before further noting, "I was, like, thank god I got it then because then I was, like, 'Alright. I can wear long-sleeve shirts. I can wear sweatshirts. Like, he's never gonna see it.'"

However, Savannah couldn't keep the secret for long and she decided to tell her dad after wearing a long-sleeve shirt while visiting Pensacola, Fla., and finding it "hotter than the hinges of hell."

"Not only is it hot as hell, but I look like an absolute idiot right now," she said in the podcast. "So, I just decided to take it upon myself and show dad my tattoo. It went over just as bad as you all can think it went over."

She said about Todd, "He's not a fan of tattoos, doesn't like them, but it's okay. Because look, it, like, softened the blow, you know? I was like, 'Dad, look at it. It's mom's handwriting. It makes me feel like I have a piece of her. And he was like, 'Oh, I would hate to know that we were such piss-poor excuse for parents that you felt like you had to go get it tattooed on your arm.'"

Savannah disregarded his comment, saying, "You know how he does just over exaggerating to a tee."

The Chrisley Knows Best alum said she is interested in getting more tattoos, but will "probably not" because she has already had two tattoos removed.

She added that her brother Grayson Chrisley, 18, "really wants" to get a tattoo but she’s told him “no,” and suggested he waits "a few years."

"Then he asked if we could get matching ones, and if I did that, my parents would not be too thrilled with me. So I'm probably not gonna do that either," she added.

In the same episode, Savannah gave an update on her parents after her mom’s case was thrown out.

She shared that her entire family — including her dad — is excited for Julie to be released from prison following her appeal. She also stated that her father isn’t thinking about his own appeal being rejected.

“He's fine,” she said on the podcast. "He was crying, like, happy tears knowing that mom could be home. That's the only thing he cares about right now is getting her home."
