A clever mum has shared a simple trick that can get rid of excess oil that is leftover from cooking without damaging your sink pipes.

When you are cooking up a storm in the kitchen then you can end up with excess materials that you need to get rid of, such as oil. Oil is a dangerous material to pour down the sink after a bout of cooking as it can solidify in the pipes and create a blockage that can end up costing you a pretty penny in repair fees.

However, there is a way to avoid damaging your pipes with cooking oil as one mum has shared on her TikTok page. The mum, who goes by @viki.lizi on TikTok, shared a 10 second video that will save your purse from plumbing repair fees.

In the video, the woman grabbed a sheet of tinfoil and placed it into the plughole of her sink, creating a small pocket that the oil can be poured into.

She then grabbed her frying pan full of oil and poured it into the tin foil bowl that is sitting in the plughole of the sink. After letting the oil cool for a bit, she then scrunched up the tin foil into a ball and plopped it into the bin.

This video garnered over 5,000 views as viewers praised this simple trick to get rid of excess oil. One person wrote: "Why have I never thought of this. Genius!"

Another said: "I do this too!" And a third just shared three love heart eye emojis in reply to this simple hack.
