Scarlett Moffatt wants to be the next Louis Theroux

Scarlett Moffatt has "always" wanted to be the next Louis Theroux.

The 31-year-old TV star is fronting new film 'Britain’s Tourette’s Mystery' for Channel 4 and has a "newfound respect" for documentary filmmakers such as Louis, 52, and Stacey Dooley after discovering how difficult interviewing can be.

She said: "I’ve always wanted to be in between Louis Theroux And Stacey Dooley, because I love them.

"I’ve got a newfound respect for Louis Theroux because it’s hard – interviewing is so hard!"

The former 'Gogglebox' star - who also hosts the conspiracy theory podcast 'Scarlett Moffatt Wants to Believe' for BBC Sounds alongside her boyfriend Scott Dobinson - went on to explain that she has "never" had to ask anyone a tricky question before and had tried to be a friend to everyone, but has "learned a lot" with her new show.

Speaking on the 'Life's a Beach' podcast, she told host Alan Carr: “I’ve not done it before. I’ve never had to ask anybody an awkward question. I try and people-please and be everyone’s friend. So I feel like I’ve learnt loads doing that, but it’s been fun!"

Scarlett previously admitted that during filming for the documentary, she was called "fat" and "Miss Piggy" by those who suffer from the condition that causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements called tics but ultimately hopes that the nation gleans more of an "understanding" of the disorder by tuning in.

She said: "Sometimes tics are funny - and I did definitely grow a thick skin during the making of the film.

"I got called ‘fat’, ‘Miss Piggy’ and ‘old’ while people were tic-ing, but it's also really serious. One guy we met, Ryan, had a huge tic attack - it was like his body wasn’t his own. He was banging his head on the floor and it looked like he was in so much pain. We had to call an ambulance. I hope by watching, people get more of an understanding about what it’s like to live a day having Tourette's."

'Britain’s Tourette’s Mystery: Scarlett Moffatt Investigates' will air on Channel 4 at 10pm on Tuesday 19 July.
