Host The Week axed after one episode with Scarlett Moffatt
Scarlett Moffatt helmed the first episode of Host The Week on Thursday (June 22) but it has now been axed after it failed to impress viewers.
The Channel 4 series was billed as a satirical entertainment show and featured the ‘Gogglebox’ star as the host for its debut episode last week, but her appearance is set to be short lived as bosses have now cut the programme from its roster after it proved painful to watch and attracted a meagre 450,000 viewers.
A Channel 4 spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “We’re brave enough to take risks with innovative programme ideas but also to acknowledge they don’t all work and move on.”
The concept saw 26-year-old Scarlett emulate a number of popular television shows, including the news and ‘Blind Date’.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ winner even joined forces with the likes of newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Duncan James for her sketches, before dressing up as Wonder Woman to interview pop band Steps on a make-believe chat show.
But it didn’t click with viewers, who took to their droves to moan about the show on Twitter.
Why is it called Host the Week? It should just be called Host The Hour. Or it should just be cancelled actually. #hosttheweek

Really, C4? Really? If we want to see a well known woman struggle with no script, no rehearsal and no idea, we watch the news. #HostTheWeek

Normally a fan of channel 4 but host the week is enough to put me off tv forever..

And a source explained: “Channel 4 tried to give something new a go but it hasn’t worked on any level. It did not land with viewers.
“They’ve decided to not only leave the second episode, but completely pack in the show. It’s unfortunate for Scarlett as she ends up the only host of the show that didn’t work from the word go.”
Dust yourself off and try again, Scarlett!
