After this date, no more snow is expected with rain instead set to pour down across Scotland at 6pm on April 25.

In good news for those keen to welcome the spring and summer months, no more snow is predicted for April with early May, up until the 4th, also looking clear. However rain will of course fall throughout the rest of the month.

Calum MacColl, a weather forecaster at the BBC discussed the latest weather for Scotland on Thursday, April 18. Looking at today's weather, he said: "It's a dry and cold start for many but will get increasingly unsettled throughout the day courtesy of the low pressure with its rain baring front spreading south-eastwards.

"We've got rain in the north-west which will continue to work its way south-eastwards, displacing any early, hazy sun in the south-east with outbreaks of rain and blustery westerly winds."

On Thursday afternoon, it will remain overcast with rain particularly prominent in the west - including Glasgow - with sporadic rain in the east with Edinburgh staying fairly dry.

Temperatures of 11C is expected across the country with "cloudy and damp" conditions expected south of Scotland.
