A Scottish bride and groom jumped into the ring after they realised they were getting married next to a wrestling event.

Newlyweds Andrew and Robyn Petersed, from Grangemouth, tied the knot at Oswald House in Kirkcaldy on May 25. The couple were surprised to find out the Dunnikier Country Park Fayre had begun next door and the event was hosting a live wrestling show.

Initially the couple were disappointed because they were worried that they would miss out on stunning outdoor wedding photos, but the pair quickly realised it could be fun.

Bride Robyn wanted to make the best of the situation and immediately asked to take a spin in the ring.

"We were both disappointed, because we'd seen a photo of a couple outside Oswald House and it looked absolutely stunning," said Andrew.

"On the morning of the wedding, I saw people setting up all these bouncy castles and inflatables - and I thought, 'we're never going to get that photo.

"Initially, it was disappointing, but I think we'd both decided to make the most of the day. We'd had enough stress with planning the wedding and honeymoon!"

"We could see it all from our bridal suite while we were getting ready, so we were all thinking it was a nightmare," Robyn added.

"We had our ceremony, and we were having our drinks, and then Hannah from the wrestling company came over and congratulated us.

"I saw her t-shirt, which had the name of the wrestling company on it, and I immediately asked if I could get in the ring.

"We were racing down to the wrestling ring and then I realised I had no idea how to get into the ring.

"There were no steps, so I had to navigate this massive dress to try and get into the ring.

"I finally got into the ring, and none of our guests knew what was going on!

"We'd not told anyone, and we'd just run straight towards the ring, so we could see guests slowly but surely starting to migrate down to watch us - everybody was loving it."

The couple say the event made the "best day ever" even more memorable - with the bride, groom, and guests partying on until 4AM.

"The day was amazing," said Andrew.

"I had never been too fussed about having a wedding - they're expensive and I thought the cost to enjoyment ratio couldn't be that high, but I had the best time."

"We had so much fun - everything was such a laugh, and everyone had a good time."

"We were just laughing the whole day," said Robyn.

"From 6AM on Saturday when we started getting ready, to 4AM on Sunday, I was just laughing my head off."

PWR Wrestling, who hosted the wrestling event, have even offered the couple a free pair of tickets to their next show once they return from their honeymoon in Mauritius.

Robyn said: "We're absolutely going - we're very excited!"
