Scots motorist fined for 'careless' driving after car smashes into side of busy road

A Scots motorist was reportedly fined for 'careless' driving after a car smashed into the side of a busy road on Friday.

At around 4.45pm on May 24 cops were made aware of a crash on Corstorphine Road causing delays and traffic chaos for many commuters.

No injuries were sustained in the two-vehicle collision, however, one driver was given a ticket by police.

In an image sent to Edinburgh Live, the front bumper of one of the vehicles appears to be badly damaged with officers in attendance to carry out investigations.

An eyewitness said: “Police were stopping traffic heading into town which has led to traffic building up.

“Officers were speaking to people at the side of the road. The car looked really badly damaged. The front was properly crumpled and smashed up.

“I really hope everyone was ok.”

EdinTravel added on Friday evening: "About a 10-minute delay for citybound traffic on St John's Road/Corstorphine Road due to the RTC at the top of Balgreen Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 officers were made aware of a two vehicle crash on Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh.

“There were no reported injuries and one person was issued with a ticket for careless driving."
