A Scots singing sensation has continued her upward trajectory after taking to the iconic pyramid stage at Glastonbury this weekend alongside a British music legend.

Rianne Downey, a rising star in the country-folk scene, took to X to express her excitement after she performed a set alongside former Housemartins and Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton on Friday night.

The up-and-coming singer, who hails from Bellshill, has been performing music for most of her adult life, from busking on the streets of Glasgow to livestreaming her impressive songs during lockdown.

So it's no surprise she was blown away to be playing to crowds of over 130,000 fans at one of the most famous stages on the planet on Friday evening.

The 24-year-old took to X to write: "I just played the Pyramid Stage with the incredible @PaulHeatonSolo, thank you @glastonbury."

She also shared a video on stage of her singing The Beautiful South's famous single, 'Rotterdam', with Paul playing the harmonica beside her.

Rianne was wearing a gorgeous custom made-dress and corset with cowboy boots, and appeared to have impressed crowds with her talent.

Fans replied to her post on X with lots of enthusiasm as one wrote: "Absolutely excellent! You've gained a fan."

Another replied: "You were amazing Rianne! Congratulations, proper bucket list stuff that! X"

Someone else said: "That set will not be beaten this weekend", alongside multiple clapping hand emojis.

A fourth compared the Scots star to a country music legend, as they remarked: "Channelling Dolly Parton with hair and dress. Superb performance."

Rianne announced earlier this month that she will also be touring around the UK with Paul Heaton and the band this winter and will be playing at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on Sunday, December 1.
