Scott Winnington put his foot to the floor with a rapid ton in Bagnall Norton’s Talbot Cup first-round win against Caverswall.

Winnington smashed 16 fours and seven sixes on his way to 144 not out, off just 69 balls, as Bagnall Norton amassed an eye-watering 349-3 from 40 overs in Sunday’s clash.

Justin Mould hit six boundaries and one maximum in his 67, while Reece White chipped in with an unbeaten 54.

Muhammad Mujahid (47) was also in the mood to join in the action as the runs kept flowing.

The inclement weather had a say in Caverswall’s chase.

Michael Dale’s 45 and 37 from Lewis Wright saw them to 123-4 from 19.3 overs - short of the 155 Duckworth/Lewis target they needed to be at.

Imraan Manack took 3-35 to help Bagnall Norton through.

Usama Mir proved to be an able deputy as Burslem beat Alsager.

Mir, formerly of Knypersley, was called into action with regular pro Matt Coles on Bedfordshire duty.

All-rounder Mir took 5-8 as Alsager were bundled out for 91 on their visit to Festival Heights.

There were also a couple of wickets apiece for Shaun Rashid and Michael Brown, while Greg Phillips (22) top-scored for the visitors.

Mir was then in a hurry with the bat as he hit four fours and four sixes in a 16-ball 45 not out to complete a seven-wicket win inside 12 overs.

Bignall End were ahead of the game when the rain ended their clash at home against Whitmore.

Whitmore took first use and were all out for 90 as Aunn Shah took 3-28 and there were double strikes from Kieran Peake and Jamie Heath.

Danyal Hussain (21) and Ryan Roberts (18) made the most headway with the bat.

In reply, Bignall End were 65-1 off 12 overs when the players left the field - but they had done enough to progress.

It was the same story at Checkley where the hosts advanced at Meakins’ expense.

Clark Haddrell (3-29) was the star turn with the ball as Meakins were rolled for 96.

Diwesh Pathania, Ben Holt and Richard Cooper shared six wickets, with Karl High (23) starring for Meakins.

Checkley were 37-0 off 14.2 overs in reply to be ahead of the rate when the rain arrived.

Ashcombe Park did likewise to win at home against Barlaston.

Alan Kiteley’s 44 led Barlaston to 187 all out in the formative stages, despite Joe Thompson and Jacob Thompson scooping 4-30 and 3-32 respectively.

After 19 overs of their chase, Ashcombe Park were 83-2 - with Haroon Mahmood on 38 not out - and they were in front of the D/L calculations.

Oakamoor won by three runs at Eccleshall in their clash.

Joe Avery’s 75, which featured seven fours and one six, plus 33 from Rashmika Mewan, guided Oakamoor to 173 all out. Dan Byatt took 3-37.

The rain saw Eccleshall’s target revised to 137 from 29 overs - but they were bowled out for 134.

Chris Plant made 44, but Mewan’s 4-23 and 3-21 from Thomas Hayes sent Oakamoor through.

Audley were well on top when the weather ended their tie at Endon.

Oliver Wilde’s 63 was backed up by Faizan Riaz’s 50, 49 from Rob Hemmings and Ed Jones’ 46 as Audley piled up 275-7.

Endon then reached 84-4 in response before the weather had the final say.

Hem Heath were in the driving seat in their tie at Wood Lane. Double strikes from Liam Banks, Ray Toole and Ben Topley skittled Wood Lane for 87.

Hem Heath needed to be on 31 from 10 overs to progress, but had eased to 53-2 in their chase.

Newcastle & Hartshill prevailed at Leycett.

Muhammad Usman Ahmed compiled 102, featuring 10 fours and six sixes, to spearhead Leycett’s charge to 185-8.

Castle needed 96 from 16 overs to clinch victory - and managed an eight-wicket success by totalling 97-2 from 14.1. Ryan Hassett made 42 not out.

Stone SP knocked out fellow Premier A side Porthill Park.

John Hancock’s 53 anchored Porthill Park’s 170 all out, in which Warrick Fynn grabbed 5-32.

Sam Graham’s unbeaten 39 had Stone SP on 133-6 from 30.2 overs in reply - enough to see them through.

Elworth were on course for an easy win against Rode Park & Lawton. Chris Regan’s 90 and 55 from Sam Baldwin powered Elworth to 278-7 early on.

Rode Park & Lawton were then reduced to 17-4 in reply before play was abandoned.
