Scottish youth charged with murder of teen e-bike rider who died in hospital

A 17-year-old has appeared in court charged with murder after a young male died in an E-bike crash.

Emergency services raced to the fatal collision in Grangemouth involving an E-bike and a small white hatchback car on Portal Road at 11.45pm on Thursday, May 30, reports The Daily Record.

Crews attended and the 17-year-old male rider of the E-bike was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on June 15. He was later named by police as Aaron McPherson.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with murder and a road traffic offence when he appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Friday.

He did not enter a plea and was committed for further examination and granted bail.

Detective Chief Inspector David MacGregor previoulsy said: "Our thoughts remain with Aaron's family and friends. Officers are offering support and keeping them updated as our investigation continues.

"I'd like to thank members of the public who have already come forward and would ask anyone else with information, who has not already spoken to police, to please do so."
