Scream star David Arquette has taken the blame for Courteney Cox's terrifying fringe in the 1996 horror.
The formerly married actors, who met on the set of the original film, are both reprising their their roles as Sheriff Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers for the upcoming fifth instalment, and Arquette is already in the process of regrowing his character's iconic moustache.
"Hopefully, [filming] happens soon or I'm gonna have a big moustache," he told Entertainment Tonight.
He then went on to take full credit for Cox's unfortunately shaped bangs in the original movie, which even she has been known to mock.
"The bangs were my fault," he said. "I have to admit, I was like, 'Oh, you should do a like, Bettie Page thing, you know, just like, a little.' That was my fault. Totally, I'll take full responsibility.
"I mean they're, you know, a professional hairdresser's fault of course. And they didn't really do Bettie Page kind of really blunt bangs. Like, that's what the idea was. They tried to mess with them. You can't. You have to go fully in. You can't, like, halfway those kinds of things."
He added: "We all wish that it never happened. Unfortunately it lives forever on film. But I apologise to everyone out there. But she was a real good sport, she did some Instagram posts where she sort of cut her bangs and that really was fun."
Scream 5 could be arriving on the big screen sooner than expected, with it being reported that it's currently targeting a release next year.
