This season's high society summer style trick? Coordinate with your friends and family

The Royal Family took outfit coordination to a whole new level in matching outfits on day one of Royal Ascot.

Blue was the colour to beat, as five royals arrived in varying iterations of the hue during the opening procession.

The Queen, known for her vibrant race day ensembles, chose a paired back powder blue overcoat and matching hat. A hint of a floral dress could be seen underneath, which perfectly matched the colourway of the floral headpiece.

Next, the Duchess of Cambridge turned heads in a delicate tulle ensemble by Elie Saab in the same powder blue shade. Following her Majesty's lead, Kate's wide-brim hat was adorned with oversized flowers.

Seeing two royals in complementing colours is not unusual for official engagements, but at Royal Ascot the blue hues kept on coming.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie followed suit as they arrived side by side in twinning outfits.

Elder sister, Princess Beatrice, opted for a polished guipure lace dress with flattering waist sash by Maje. The affordable £189 dress was paired with a trendy hat by London milliner Bundle MacLaren.

Princess Eugenie opted for the brightest shade of the family, garnering attention in a pleated cobalt dress with accents of yellow, which matched the newlywed's fascinator.

Zara Tindall put her own spin on the trend by donning a statement floral poplin maxi dress by Zimmermann with a slightly smaller, but very similar, hat to Kate's.
