Council bosses have revealed when the second phase of the biggest regeneration project in Nuneaton will get underway. The Grayson Place regeneration project is taking place in the Abbey Street area.

It's first phase is the new Hampton by Hilton hotel, which is set to be completed by August. But now the Town Hall has told CoventryLive that Phase 2 is set to start in September.

However, what is not yet known is which elements of Phase 2 will start first. It is no secret that the second phase of the development has been changed from the original plan due to costs. The planned inflatable park has been axed and the proposed new multi-storey car park was dropped, but there will be a new surface-level car park.

However, Phase is set to bring a new cinema and a glass-fronted food hall to the area where part of the old Co-op once stood as well as its old car park. The former India Red pub is also going to be refurbished and put back on the market.

In a statement, a borough council spokesperson said that the phase 2 works should be finished by 2026. "Enabling works are now in process for the second phase of the Grayson Place development and we anticipate a start on site in late September with an aim for this to be completed in early 2026.

"We look forward to sharing further details of the development in the near future."
