Sefton Park has quickly become my favourite spot - here's why

One thing I have noticed since moving to Liverpool is how stunning its parks are.

From someone who grew up spending weekends on my grandad's farm, or hiking in the Lake District, I think my biggest concern about moving to a city was the idea of having no outdoor spaces to enjoy. But Liverpool has given me that balance I needed with its unbelievably beautiful parks.

As soon as I moved here the first thing people said to me was "have you visited Sefton Park yet?" I can confirm I have, and wow.

For those of you like me who are just moving to this incredible city, or even those who have lived here a while, please visit Sefton Park, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Sefton Park is a huge green space in Aigburth, it has a massive pond surrounded by leafy areas, and wooded territories that hide away little ponds, fairy gardens and so many more little secret gems to discover. My personal favourite has been the Fairy Glen - but I'm sure there are many more nooks and crannies for me to explore in the park yet - honestly you could get lost in there all day.

There is of course a play park for children, and tennis courts to enjoy. But most importantly is the Palm House. The STUNNING dome-shaped Victorian palm house is surrounded by beautiful flowers and just looks idyllic - it has a little café where you can enjoy a coffee, it hosts events, markets, and weddings. You name it, can probably do it there.

As well as the park, you’re in a prime position to enjoy the food, drink and bohemian atmosphere of Lark Lane.

But, my favourite thing in the park so far has got to be sitting and watching the sunset with my friends. On sunny days we've been taking our blankets to the park, laying out our picnics and pouring wine into our plastic cups (all rubbish taken home before anyone asks) and enjoying the sunset, while playing cards - anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE the sunset - so you can imagine how much of a perfect evening this is for me. Oh, and I love taking my book to sit and read and enjoy the tranquillity of Sefton Park.

What's to love even more about Sefton Park is the amount of events and gatherings it hosts throughout the year. We have music events, like Africa Oye, Jamie Webster is coming to the park this summer, as well as my favourite band in the world... THE REYTONS! And, many many more. Every week groups like Girls on the Go and Netwalking also meetup to go for huge walks - or sometimes runs - around the park, giving people like us the chance to meet new friends and get out in the fresh air, it's pretty heart-warming if you ask me!

It was just last Saturday I was strolling through my new-found favourite beauty spot and saw a band playing in the band stand - honestly things like this make me fall in love with this city even more. I hear throughout the summer it's common for musicians to play in the bandstand to parkgoers - which I can't wait for.

There is so much to see and do in Sefton Park, there is no wonder it has often been named as one of the best places in the UK. Please visit, I promise you won't be disappointed.
