Selena Gomez has mixed feelings about her 2022 Netflix documentary My Mind & Me.

The singer and actress, 31, opened up about the documentary at the Universal Music Group and Thrive Global’s first Music & Health conference on Tuesday.

Speaking onstage with Universal Music Group chairman Sir Lucian Grainge and Ariana Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, Gomez revealed that at first she was “very against” filming the documentary, which was released in November 2022.

“There was a very long period of time where I just didn’t know if it was a good idea,” Gomez — who wore a chic pink pantsuit with her dark hair slicked back at the event — said per The Hollywood Reporter. “I knew, eventually, one day I wanted to maybe just be an actress for a while, and I didn’t know if it would jeopardize things in my life.”

Despite initially questioning whether it was a good idea to let people into her life, the Rare Beauty co-founder felt "like a huge weight was lifted,” when the show aired.

“I felt like I got to say things that I’ve been keeping in for years,” Gomez added. “It’s very hard for me to watch. I will never watch it again, but I’m very proud of it. I couldn’t have been luckier to have the people that worked on it with me.”

During the discussion at the conference Tuesday, Gomez also revealed that having a large number of Instagram followers has never been important to her.

“I’ve never really cared about that stuff. I suppose I’m grateful for the platform, and I would love to continue to use it for what I’m able to do, but numbers are just numbers," said Gomez, who was the most followed person on Instagram in 2016 with 103 million followers.

Gomez now has 429 million Instagram followers, just behind Instagram's official account which has 657 million followers.
