Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane says he's "embarrassed" to work for Fox following Fox News host Tucker Carlson's comments about the media's dishonesty.

MacFarlane, who has built a majority of his career with Fox, did not hesitate to lash out after Carlson told his audience on Thursday night: "If you're looking to understand what's actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they're telling you on the big news stations."

Carlson's perspective on the media is something that Fox News viewers will likely align with him on.

MacFarlane responded to Carlson, writing: "In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News. This is fringe s***, and it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company."

MacFarlane's tweet has racked up more than 39,000 likes and 13,000 comments since he posted it on Saturday night.

The animator and writer's comment comes during a sensitive time for the network which recently lost creative force Ryan Murphy to Netflix.

Fox is also in the midst of managing competing bids for its studio assets from Disney and Comcast.

MacFarlane's contract is with 20th Century Fox TV, which will move to Disney or Comcast and will not be a "corporate sibling" of Fox News or the broadcast network.

When the deal comes up for renewal in 2018, he will likely garner interest from other companies.

Last November it was announced that MacFarlane switched agencies from CAA to WME because of his deal's looming expiration next year.
