Settlement reached in DeWitt Park lawsuit

Apr. 5—A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit over Clinton's DeWitt Park, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

The details of the settlement, however, have not yet been made publicly available.

On Monday, documents state, plaintiffs Stephen Howes and JoAnn Hunt, and the city of Clinton and YWCA as defendants reached a settlement in the lawsuit.

The settlement is subject to the approval of Clinton City Council and the YWCA Board of Directors who will be voting on the settlement on or before April 9.

Documents also state that the parties involved accordingly do not wish to spend more time and expense on preparation of briefs and arguments for an April 26 hearing. Those are due by the April 15.

Jointly, the parties requested that the Court grant a stay of proceedings. The Court granted the motion.

A status hearing is to be set at a later date.
