Disney Plus, or Disney+ for those of you who prefer the shortened version, is launching in the UK on 24 March, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the country staying in and self-isolating right now, the House of Mouse is here with a back catalogue of classic films and new series to get stuck into.
All the hit films – from animated classics like Toy Story and Cinderella to the Avengers films – are here, as well as brand new shows.
The best? You don’t need to pay for your first week if you fancy giving it a try. As long as you sign up online, you can get a week-long free trial on Disney+ with any new account.
Access to Disney+ costs £5.99 a month or £59.99 for the whole year, but once you sign up you’ll automatically get the first seven days for free.
To sign up, just head over to the official Disney+ website, or download the app on your smartphone, tablet, games console, or Amazon Fire TV Stick and fill in your details.
You will need to put your bank details in as well, which means you can’t take advantage of multiple free trials, so it’s just one week for free for now.
Disney+ will then charge you the standard rate as soon as your free trial is over, so keep that in mind, but we predict that you’ll want to keep it going.
Disney+ will launch with more than 500 films and 350 TV shows on offer, covering a whole range of different types of entertainment. Think kid-friendly programmes and movies to keep them occupied during the day (when they aren’t doing their school work, of course), to films and series you haven’t seen in years.
If you’re into the classics, there are a huge number of Disney favourites to watch, from Pocahontas and Pinocchio, to Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and Hercules.
Disney will also constantly update the library with new content, including all of the most recent live-action remake, such as The Lion King, Dumbo, and The Lady and The Tramp, so there should be plenty of new films to discover.
As we all this, the service includes dozens of TV shows to enjoy, such as the critically acclaimed The Mandalorian and Disney+ original series The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
One of the reasons we're most tempted is that Disney+ works out slightly cheaper than many of the other streaming services around (such as NOW TV, Amazon Prime or a premium subscription to Netflix), so it's an affordable entertainment option right now.
