The superhero universe was blessed when CBS announced that Grant Gustin, the star of The CW’s The Flash would be making an appearance in an upcoming Supergirl episode set to air in March. Yes, Barry Allen is speeding over to National City. The Flash is finally teaming up with Supergirl, making this an unconventional cross-network crossover.

The Flash proved that superheroes don’t have to be dark and brooding arriving with a lighter tone that its sustained. In some ways, Supergirl followed in the same footsteps with its tone (compared to The Flash’s parent show Arrow); it seems perfect that it’s Barry who gets a ticket to National City because of how much he’ll complement Kara Danvers’ charm. Not to mention that it’s nice to know that Supergirl exists in the already established Arrowverse and not off floating in its own DC bubble.

The two of them are destined to be a perfect fit and we’ve already got our first glimpse thanks to Grant Gustin, who’s excitedly been Instagramming pictures on the set of Supergirl (like the one above with Melissa Benoist). Here’s seven things that could, and should happen when The Flash meets Supergirl.

1. They’ll share their dorky sense of humour because they’re practically the same person.

Barry and Kara meeting is such a perfect fit, it’s almost criminal that this is happening. They’ll realise that they have the same humour and will geek out over the same nerdy things. They also have in common what it’s like to hide their identity to the public and being afraid of what will happen if someone spills the beans. And they’ll just be insanely charming together.

2. They’ll figure out who’s actually the fastest.

Speed off in National City? This has got to happen, right? Barry is a speedster but Kara is a Kryptonian so the odds are neck and neck. We’ve seen some friendly competition between The Flash and Arrow (Stephen Amell) during their crossover so it’s only a matter of when this will happen.

3. If Cisco joins Barry in National City, he will probably fangirl hard over Supergirl.

We’ve already seen Cisco (Carlos Valdes) fall head over heels when he helped out Black Canary (Katie Cassidy) create some super cool gadgets and he found out who she really was. If he makes the trip to National City, he’ll go crazy for Kara.

4. James and Winn will feel threatened by Barry’s arrival.

James (Mechad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) will be like “Who’s this guy?!” They might be sceptical at first, but they’ll soon realise that they’re all friends and that it’s all cool. Barry’s only here to help.

5. They’ll have an epic showdown to take down a meta-human.

There hasn’t been a synopsis for this episode yet but it’s easy to guess that Kara will need some help with a meta-human who’s out to destroy National City. So, it’s not like Kara and Barry haven’t dealt with their fair share of crazy villains. We should probably expect an epic, epic finale fight, considering their powers.

6. And their suits will look amazing side by side.

Being a superhero isn’t really about the costumes but the significance behind seeing them together will be more exciting. This will make it an unconventional meeting of two shows on different American networks. It has been made possible because both networks are owned by the same company and both shows are produced by the same people. But the fact that Barry and Kara will meet on-screen is definitely something to geek about.

7. Finally, there should be a musical number thrown in, just because.

You can’t have an episode with Glee alums Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist and Broadway mega-star Jeremy Jordan without anyone busting into song and dance!

Grant Gustin will appear in the 18th episode of Supergirl titled “Worlds Finest” which is scheduled to air on CBS on 28th March 2016.
