Several Killed by Flash Floods in Kyrgyzstan Mountains
At least 8 people, including children, are dead after flooding and mudslides in the mountainous regions of south-western Kyrgyzstan, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported on June 30, citing authorities.
A state of emergency was declared in Nookat district, after the area was hit by heavy rainfall, forecast to persist until July 2.
A popular vacation spot, Abshir Ata, was badly impacted, local outlet Turmush reported.
More than 1,300 holiday-makers were evacuated from the area, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
