Sex/Life star Sarah Shahi got candid about season two of the racy Netflix drama, saying it was "gimmicky and "challenging".

During a recent appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the actress admitted that she struggled with the storylines and people involved in the show this season.

"I definitely did not have the support that I did the first season," she said. "It became a much different thing for me and I’m not afraid to say that. I struggled with the material. I mean, I’m never going to work for Netflix again now after saying all this. I just can’t lie."

In the first season, Shahi's character Billie Connelly sparked up a romance with Brad Simon, played by Adam Demos, and Shahi and Demos became a real-life item.

However, the couple didn't get as much screen-time together this time around and Shahi admitted that she was "bummed" about it.

"I really liked our stories and I like working with him," she said. "He was a brilliant scene partner. [In season 2], I was working so much and he was working so little. He’s, like, in 60 seconds of the entire thing. I never saw him."

The Black Adam actress also thinks that "there were more moments that felt very gimmicky" in season two.

"Those kinds of things for me are always really hard to read and do and stuff like that, but I didn’t have to do them. The boys did. I thought they did a great [job]."

But despite her issues with the show, Shahi added: "That’s part of what I do. I’m not always gonna get along or agree with a filmmaker. I’m not always gonna like what I have to do or say. But that’s my job, to make it believable."

Sex/Life is available to stream via Netflix.
