A shameless driver has arrogantly admitted to parking in parent and child parking spaces so other drivers can’t damage his car.

Childless Andrew – who refused to give his name in case of retaliation – has infuriated parents at Sainsbury’s in Northwich, Cheshire, by deliberately using the parking space set aside for them.

But the 51-year-old is unrepentant, and vows to carry on using the spaces in case “granny drivers” dent his Chrysler Grand Voyager.

Andrew, from Northwich, said: “That Sainsbury’s car park is notorious for old granny drivers.

“People who drive there in the day time are 90 years old.

“One of my friend’s car got absolutely smashed from leaving it in the Sainsbury’s car park.

“I know for a fact if you leave a car there it’s going to have lots and lots of dents.

The 51-year-old said ‘granny drivers’ did not care about denting other cars (Caters)

“I’ve got a huge car and I’m not parking in this bay.

“I will just park where I want. It wouldn’t stop me from doing it in the future.

“Some spaces are hard to get into. I might have wound a lot of people up but I don’t care.”

One furious driver left an angry note on Andrew’s windscreen, which read: “It’s a parent and child space. Please do not be so ignorant.”

But Andrew is refusing to back down and shared the note online, saying that he hopes it will be more careful when they get out of the car.

He added: “Hopefully this will have a positive effect because people might be more careful with their driving.

The shameless driver was told he was ‘ignorant’ for parking in the spaces (Caters)

“What annoyed me was that they’ve gone out of their way to leave me a note and they haven’t got the nerve to come up to me and say it to my face. It is just ridiculous. How petty is that?

“I can’t understand why someone stuck a note on my car. It is just pointless thing to do unless someone has damaged your car.

“I’ve seen other people doing it but I’m not going to say anything. I just mind my own business.

“I haven’t got the authority to say anything. I can’t believe it. It just makes me laugh.”

Sainsbury’s said they would fine anyone misusing the spaces (Caters)

Sainsbury’s say anyone caught using the parent and child spaces who aren’t meant to face a hefty fine if they refuse to move.

A spokesperson said: “We monitor our parent and child spaces to make sure they’re not misused.

“If customers without children are found to be using one of these spaces, they will, in the first instance, be asked to move.

“If they refuse, they will be issued with a Parking Charge Notice.”
