Sheffield drive-by attack: Man, 25, charged with attempted murder after 12-year-old boy shot
Police investigating the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in a drive-by attack in Sheffield have charged a man with attempted murder.
Stephen Dunford, 25, from Sheffield, has also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The boy, reportedly an "innocent bystander", was shot in the left thigh when an attacker opened fire from a moving vehicle as he stood outside a sandwich shop on Northern Avenue with three friends aged 13, 15 and 16 on Sunday.
He needed surgery for a gunshot wound and remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Northern Avenue in the Arbourthorne area of the city at around 3.45pm, South Yorkshire Police said in a statement.
Dunford, of Fellbrigg Road, has been remanded into custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
