Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign Leeds United youngster Keenan Carole, with the French winger's contract up this summer.

The 19-year-old son of former Whites star Sebastien Carole, has not played for Leeds' Under-21 side since December, and featured for the Owls U21s in a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town last week.

Wednesday survived relegation to League One thanks to a surge in form under manager Danny Rohl, with Leeds loanee Ian Poveda playing a key role. The Owls are reportedly keen to sign him on a permanent deal, but will face competition.

Carole looks set to make the Hillsborough switch should Wednesday decide to sign him up this summer, after making nine appearances for Leeds U21s this season.

Speaking in 2022 when Keenan signed his first deal with Leeds, dad Sebastian said: “I had talent, yes, but I didn’t really like getting hurt. Let’s say that I was not a hard worker. On the other hand, Keenan, one of my three sons, is quite the opposite. He has crazy energy on the pitch, can do a lot of things, with and without the ball.

“He deserves it because, in parallel with his studies, he shows immense seriousness. He is a good kid, who makes a lot of effort to succeed. This is just one step in his career. He plays in the same position as me but he does it with much more determination."
