Passers-by raced to the aid of a young man who was found lying face down in the street after he was stabbed in Shepherd’s Bush.

The 25-year-old victim was found collapsed in the middle of Bentworth Road on Monday afternoon.

Members of the public dialled 999 and administered first aid as he lay injured in the street at about 4pm.

Scotland Yard said that when officers and paramedics arrived at the scene, he was conscious and breathing.

Medics rushed the injured man to a central London hospital where he underwent surgery.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.

Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham CID are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information about the incident to contact them.
