Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale to Announce Emmy Nominations

With the nominations round of Emmy voting done, all that’s left to do is tabulate the choices and reveal the nominees in July. And then vote again. And tabulate again. And hand out the actual awards.

Regardless, the nominations news will be delivered by two previous Emmy winners: Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The pair are set to anchor the nominations ceremony on Wednesday, July 17, at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. A live stream of the announcement will be available on the Television Academy’s Emmy website.

“While this year has been marked by significant challenges for our industry and its workforce, there has been an abundance of remarkable programs, extraordinary performances and impactful storytelling,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego. “Great television relies on the contributions of so many, and we are delighted to have Tony and Sheryl help us acknowledge excellence across our field as we embark on a season of tremendous celebration.”

Hale won two Emmys for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for his work in Veep, first in 2013 and again in 2015. The actor also received an Emmy at the previous telecast for outstanding lead performance in a children’s program for his work in The Mysterious Benedict Society. He next appears in Netflix period comedy The Decameron.

Ralph is also a recent Emmy winner. She took home her first statuette in 2022 for her supporting work in Abbott Elementary, and is considered a likely nominee for her third consecutive season on the ABC sitcom. This summer, she’ll star in the feature The Fabulous Four alongside Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon and Megan Mullally

The nominations announcement will begin at 8:30 a.m. PT (11:30 a.m. ET). The actual Emmys will be handed out Sunday, Sept. 15, during the live ABC telecast.
