'Shock and Disbelief': Footage Details Damage to Minneapolis Buildings and Businesses [FILE]

The aftermath of May 27 protests over the police killing of George Floyd, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was captured in footage shot by a local man.

The protests turned violent and continued into the early hours of the next morning, with looting and property destruction reported by local media and authorities. Alex Hinrichs filmed a series of clips as he drove around the city on Thursday morning, showing ongoing fires, damaged storefronts, and burnt-out buildings, including an AutoZone outlet on Lake Street.

“My reaction to seeing the aftermath of the riots was shock and disbelief,” ,"Hinrichs told Storyful. “I’ve never seen anything like it before and I couldn’t believe that the entire situation all happened right in my home state and the city I grew up in.”

Footage taken on the evening of May 27 shows the AutoZone outlet being ransacked, shortly before the fire broke out, destroying the store by the following morning.
