Shoppers have been left disappointed by the closure of the restaurant at Warrington's IKEA site, leaving customers craving their meatball fix. Thankfully it's not permanent - as they're currently being refurbished - although a reopening date has yet to be revealed.

Sharing their disappointment on Facebook, one shopper said: "Loved our little trip to IKEA this week, although we was all gutted the cafe was shut so we never got the famous meatballs and Daim bars." Despite the closure there is still some limited seating available and you can get a drink and a few snacks such as apple pie and the much-loved Daim cake.

The smaller FIKA café on the first floor is still open, selling a small range of refreshments and, there's still the usual Bistro after the checkouts if you want to grab a hot dog and some ice cream, reports the Manchester Evening News.

A sign near the entrance tells visitors to 'get ready for a new restaurant, adding: "Light refreshments available today. Please bear with us while we're getting our kitchen back up and running. In the meantime, we have hot and cold drinks, ice cream and a selection of muffins available. Thank you for your cooperation."

Further round the store, another sign says: "You may notice some changes in our restaurant area during the next few weeks while we are busy with refurbishments." It adds: "We are sorry for the disruption and assure you it will be worth the wait."
